Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Fulfillment Center

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician for its Pharmacy Fulfillment Center in Des Moines, Iowa. The role works in a fast-paced automated central-fill pharmacy, assisting pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications. Night and weekend shifts are required.

Key responsibilities

• Work as a team to follow standard operating procedures and facility policies, and help develop them
• Handle inquiries that do not need a pharmacist's expertise and report medication errors to the right people
• Prepare and label prescription containers and maintain quality assurance standards
• Order, check in and stock pharmacy supplies, and keep the pharmacy and dispensing area clean
• Perform mail order call center duties, including data entry to prepare prescription orders
• Manually count medication quantities, replenish and replace medication cells, and bring full cells to robots
• Follow personal hygiene and dress guidelines, and adhere to pharmacy statutes and regulations
• Assist in training employees and other related duties and special projects

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program, maintaining continuing education to keep the license active
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and to stoop, kneel, stand, reach and perform repetitive motions
• Good vision, color vision and hearing, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to work night and weekend shifts
