Certified Medical Assistant - Behavioral Health

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant for its behavioral health clinic in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The position is full time on a day shift (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm), with travel as needed to meet staffing needs and support clinic operations. Starting pay is from $19 per hour, with a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 and a relocation bonus available for eligible applicants.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients and equipment for treatment, initiate testing and document results in the practice's system
• Maintain OSHA compliance and other office safety policies
• Provide whole care during office visits, including intake, screenings, labs, medication administration and closing care gaps
• Perform clinical intake such as screenings, history taking, vital signs and medication reconciliation
• Assist with minor procedures and ensure accurate documentation
• Educate patients on tests, medications and diet
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and patient information and support teamwork

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Certification: CMA, CMAC, RMA, NCMA, CCMA or NRCMA, plus Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR)
• 1+ year of related work experience preferred
• Ability to work independently within the scope of certification and handle stressful situations

Required skills

• Medical terminology and knowledge of chronic disease management
• Use of internal and external resources and patient advocacy
• Legible reading, writing and typing, effective spoken and written English
• Computer experience
