CEI Inspector – Transportation Construction Management

About the role

We are looking for a CEI Inspector to join our Transportation Construction Management (T‑CM) team in the Tyler, TX area. The inspector will monitor on‑site construction activities and verify that materials and workmanship meet the specifications for road and bridge projects.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain detailed daily records of contractor operations, including manpower, equipment, methods and any events affecting work.
• Monitor work‑zone traffic‑control and erosion‑control plans, flagging discrepancies and potential issues.
• Perform sampling, testing and field inspections of materials and completed work.
• Verify dimensions, conduct field tests and track completed quantities for payment purposes.
• Conduct survey checks and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 7+ years of construction experience, with at least 4 years in roadway/bridge inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends as project schedules demand.

Required skills

• OSHA 10‑Hour certification.
• TXDOT certifications (as required).
• ACI Concrete Testing Technician certification.
• Experience with material sampling, testing and field inspection techniques.
• Survey check proficiency.
