Catering Coordinator

About the role

Hy-Vee's Catering Coordinators in the Market Grille department are responsible for the full catering experience, from meeting customers and writing detailed orders to coordinating across departments so that events such as weddings, holiday gatherings and corporate events go smoothly. The role is hourly, based in Spring Lake Park, and requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 to 3 years of similar or related experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and meet with customers to understand their needs, write detailed orders and coordinate with the kitchen, bakery and deli
• Set and uphold standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, appearance and profitability
• Contact businesses and prospective customers, share information about catering services and develop contracts for exclusive events
• Determine pricing, prepare customer bills, extend and post invoices, and oversee department bookkeeping
• Maintain standard catering practices, run quality control checks and organize store shows and displays
• Advise customers on rental companies and recommend equipment purchases with Store Director approval
• Ensure proper temperatures and storage, maintain department guidelines in the manager's absence and attend manager meetings to check pricing
• Troubleshoot equipment, answer calls and voicemails, and report to work when scheduled

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1 to 3 years of similar or related experience
• Able to solve practical problems, communicate clearly with customers, team members and vendors, and lead and motivate a team
• Ability to use math skills including fractions, decimals and percentages for pricing and invoicing
• Physical demands include frequent standing and walking, exposure to heat and burn hazards, and the ability to safely use sharp knives and blades

What we offer

• Anticipated hourly starting wage of $18.00 to $22.50 depending on experience
