Buyer - ELSP

About the role

ABB is hiring a Buyer for its ELSP business unit, reporting to the Purchasing Manager. The position is onsite in Mebane, NC, and involves purchasing materials according to technical specifications, price, delivery schedule and terms, while keeping purchasing aligned with corporate policies. The buyer also identifies new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.

Key responsibilities

• Place purchase orders for production materials according to forecast and production schedule
• Monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery, resolving issues and mitigating future supply risks
• Expedite or defer orders based on schedule, inventory or demand variations
• Determine optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and lead times
• Coordinate material flows during product/BOM changes, obsolescence and new supplier or material introductions
• Support Receiving, Warehouse and Inventory Management so transactions are recorded correctly
• Resolve PO issues caused by invoice discrepancies, returns or quality problems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Materials, Planning, Purchasing, Inventory Management or similar
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US
• Written and spoken English

Required skills

• Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel and Outlook
• Purchasing software; SAP preferred
• Planning, organization and analytical problem-solving skills
