Business Insights & Analytics Data Engineering Intern

About the role

Join Lilly's Business Insights & Analytics team as a Data Engineering Intern, where you will help build governed data pipelines that power marketing, sales, finance, and leadership decisions. You will gain hands‑on experience with Lilly’s data platforms such as Databricks and Unity Catalog while contributing to AI‑ready data products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop understanding of BI&A’s data platforms, pipeline architecture, and source systems.
• Build and support ingestion, transformation, and validation pipelines on Databricks/Delta Lake using SQL and Python.
• Write and maintain test cases, validate pipeline outputs, and document schemas, lineage, and metadata.
• Support data‑product freshness, quality metrics, and AI‑readiness for downstream agentic systems.

Required profile

• Full‑time undergraduate, rising senior (Junior) graduating Dec 2027 – Aug 2028.
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, AWS or Azure).
• Familiarity with Delta Lake, ETL/ELT concepts, and data‑pipeline design.
• Version control using Git.
