AI Data Engineering Intern (BS)

About the role

Lilly’s Advanced Intelligence & Research team is seeking a summer intern to help build and deliver AI‑driven data solutions that accelerate clinical development. You will work on a scoped project that impacts real business decisions, collaborating with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and clinical partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build pipelines to ingest, transform, and validate large, messy datasets such as CDISC SDTM/ADaM, real‑world health data, and unstructured documents.
• Model data for analytics and machine‑learning use, writing production‑quality Python and SQL code.
• Apply engineering best practices including version control, testing, code review, and documentation.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure data meets the needs of AI applications.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, with junior year completed by June 2027.
• Hands‑on experience programming in Python and writing SQL.
• Foundational understanding of data structures, relational databases, and data flow.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis without sponsorship.
