Bilingual Housing Problem Solving Specialist

About the role

The Bilingual Housing Problem Solving Specialist works directly with families experiencing a housing crisis in San Francisco, providing trauma‑informed, strengths‑based support to help them maintain or quickly secure safe housing.

Key responsibilities

• Offer problem‑solving support, including network mapping, motivational interviewing, conflict resolution, and mediation.
• Assess families’ eligibility for San Francisco’s Homelessness Response System and explain access to shelter, rental subsidies, and permanent supportive housing.
• Provide referrals for emergency shelters, food, basic needs, and other resources.
• Maintain up‑to‑date family information in Compass’ Salesforce database and the city‑wide ONE System.
• Support families through the housing matching process and de‑escalate potentially volatile situations.

Required profile

• Fluency or high professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Relevant experience in social work or a related field working with families in crisis.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Salesforce.
• Strong computer skills with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Hourly wage $27‑$31 based on experience, language proficiency and education.
