About the role

Birdie G's, the restaurant from James Beard Award-nominated Chef Jeremy Fox, has been reimagined as an all-day California brasserie at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. As Barback you serve guests and servers in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner, preparing beverages according to recipes and guidelines while ensuring compliance with liquor laws.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare beverages for guests and servers following recipes and guidelines for preparation, presentation and cost efficiency
• Ensure compliance with all liquor laws in the preparation, serving and consumption of alcoholic beverages
• Exceed guest expectations and interact with guests so they feel special
• Assist bartenders with all steps of service and work with the prep team and kitchen to keep the bar ready to service standards
• Stock and break down the bar for service
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar prep area and control cost and waste
• Keep up to date with the menu, food preparation techniques and general city and hotel history
• Be proactive, support colleagues and managers, and act as an ambassador for the department, property and brand

Required profile

• Previous customer service experience required
• Previous food and beverage and/or barista experience preferred
• Previous experience barbacking in a luxury environment and in a high-volume environment
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision, under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and as part of a small team
• Must provide proof of current eligibility to work in the United States

Required skills

• Knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine and beer
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
