Baking & Pastry Internship

About the role

The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs is looking for a Baking & Pastry Intern to work as a Second Pastry Cook in the Chef department. The intern assists the Pastry Cook and Pastry Chef with dessert preparation and supports the kitchen during both station prep and service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Pastry Cook and Pastry Chef in preparing desserts.
• Complete scheduled assignments, including station prep and station service.
• Follow the lead's direction and use recipes or instructions provided, working efficiently.
• Handle guest interaction, ordering, clean-up and clerical duties as needed.
• Obtain the utensils, tools and supplies required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a production kitchen.
• High school diploma or G.E.D., or an A.O.S./A.S. degree in Culinary Arts, or completion of a 3-year Pro-Start program or 3 years in an equivalent food production operation.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking of English.
• Able to stand continuously, walk frequently, bend and stoop often, and lift more than 41 pounds horizontally, from floor to waist, by grasping and pushing or pulling.
• Consistent demonstration of the Ten Essential Attributes for All Employees.

Working conditions

• Flexible hours: 5:00am-1:30pm, 7:00am-3:30pm or 1:30pm-10:00pm; days off vary.
• Reports to the Executive Pastry Chef or Lead.
• Work is indoors, heated and below ground.
