Backend Engineer - Agentic AI

About the role

The client is building an AI‑powered training and communication SaaS platform for frontline workers. As a Backend Engineer you will work fully remotely, designing and delivering backend services and agentic AI features while occasionally contributing to frontend UI.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and support high‑quality Python and Java code for AI and core platform integration.
• Build, run and consume MCP servers, handling tool design, OAuth, multi‑tenant security and deployment.
• Create LLM agents with tool/function calling and multi‑agent orchestration, and implement observability in production.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical debt remediation.

Required profile

• Based in Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic or Mexico with strong English communication skills.
• 4+ years of backend‑heavy development experience in Java and Python.
• Hands‑on experience with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and cloud platforms, especially GCP.
• Proven ability to work independently on well‑defined problems and deliver reliable solutions.
