Atlassian Support Engineer (Data Center)

About the role

Zeno Power, a developer of nuclear batteries, is seeking an Atlassian Support Engineer in Seattle, WA, to administer and maintain its Atlassian suite (Jira Software, Jira Service Management and Confluence Data Center) and the plugins and add-ons that extend them. The role is platform administration: permissions, workflows, service desk queues, project and space structure, and the automation behind processes such as requisitions, contracts and approvals. It is onsite in Seattle at least three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Jira Software Data Center, Jira Service Management Data Center and Confluence Data Center, including projects, spaces, workflows, service desk queues, request types, reporting and dashboards, with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.
• Own access administration: design and maintain the role-based permission model, including group structure, delegation and a documented rollback path.
• Design and maintain complex multi-step workflows and automation rules, including approval chains, status progression, assignments and notifications for purchase requisitions, contracts and job requisitions.
• Build and maintain the Confluence information architecture, including page hierarchies, templates and space structure.
• Monitor performance, availability and security, troubleshoot issues and apply updates and patches on a planned cadence.
• Audit workflows, schemes, automation rules and permission groups, consolidate duplicates, retire unused configuration and keep the administration backlog current.
• Work with engineering, project managers, operations, finance, recruiting and others to configure the tools to their needs.
• Develop best practices and guidelines, and provide training, playbooks and design documents.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or equivalent education, training and experience.
• 3+ years of Atlassian Data Center administration across Jira Software, Jira Service Management and Confluence.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining Jira automation rules for multi-step business processes.
• Experience structuring, documenting and implementing change management practices (playbooks, design docs, rollback plans, training).
• Experience designing and migrating role-based access models across many projects and spaces.
• Program or project management experience with enterprise-wide IT system changes.
• Experience administering Atlassian tools in a regulated environment (CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, ITAR/EAR or FedRAMP).
• Atlassian certifications such as Certified Jira Administrator or Certified Confluence Administrator.
• Experience migrating between Atlassian platforms, such as Data Center to Cloud or between Data Center instances.

Required skills

• Scripting languages such as Python and Groovy, or ScriptRunner and REST APIs, for automation and customization.
• JQL and SQL for reporting, data cleanup and migration, including complex queries and relational databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication, able to explain configurations to non-technical audiences.
