Associate Systems Administrator

About the role

The Associate Systems Administrator supports and monitors the Windows Server environment on both physical and virtual servers at UAMS, working closely with IT application teams and providing tier‑3 technical assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Support and monitor Windows Server operating systems on physical and virtual servers.
• Request and configure new virtual servers and reconfigure existing ones using VRA.
• Maintain OS patch levels and manage physical server hardware.
• Evaluate new software for compatibility with the UAMS computing environment.
• Provide tier‑3 assistance to IT staff, vendors, and non‑IT entities connected to the network.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Master’s, Bachelor’s, Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or high school diploma/GED with relevant experience.
• Relevant experience ranging from 1 to 3 years depending on education level, supporting at least two of the listed technologies.
• Preferred experience in research, higher‑education, or healthcare environments.
