Associate Software Engineer (.NET APIs & Terraform)

About the role

Asure Software, a provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) software and services, is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join its growing R&D team in Addison, Texas. The role suits an early-career developer with a foundation in backend development who wants to build scalable applications, APIs and cloud-based solutions. Candidates must be able to start interviewing immediately in the Addison office.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain backend applications and services.
• Build and enhance APIs using .NET technologies.
• Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Follow modern software engineering best practices, write clean and documented code, and take part in code reviews.
• Use Terraform to support cloud infrastructure provisioning and deployment.
• Troubleshoot application, database and performance issues, and create and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and database integrations.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups and retrospectives, and help improve application reliability and scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of professional software development experience; internship experience may be considered.
• Experience building backend services and APIs with C# and .NET.
• Working knowledge of SQL databases and database design, and understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
• Familiarity with Git and strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• C#.NET / .NET Core, REST APIs and microservices concepts.
• SQL Server and relational database design, query optimisation.
• Git; Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools.
• Preferred: Node.js and TypeScript, Terraform, Azure or AWS, Docker, CI/CD and DevOps, API security, Agile/Scrum.
