Associate Project Engineer

About the role

ABB is hiring an Associate Project Engineer in its Electrification Distribution Solutions Division in the US, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The role supports engineering activities on projects of all sizes and complexities under the supervision of senior engineers, completing work cost-effectively and in line with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and cybersecurity policies. It is an onsite position.

Key responsibilities

• Perform survey work, standard computations, analysis and basic design tasks.
• Exercise judgment on limited details of work and on the application of standard methods, and prepare project documentation within your scope.
• Assist customers on technical issues and interact with official contacts, contractors and other staff.
• Support communication on specific assignments or meetings and take part in engineering design workshops.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Entry-level position for 4-year engineering graduates with 0-2 years of experience.
• Experience with low-complexity orders and mechanical designs.
• Ability to work in a global business environment with cultural diversity and authorization to work legally in the US.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD (recent version) or an equivalent CAD platform.
• 3D design with Creo, SolidWorks or an equivalent platform.
• Familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, SAP, Windchill and other applicable software.
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals.
• Preferrable: manufacturing experience (steel or copper fabrication), knowledge of electrical distribution equipment, power systems, controls or mechatronics, and familiarity with ANSI Air Insulated Switchgear, NEC, ANSI and IEEE standards.
