Associate Professor, Tenure‑Track in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

About the role

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks a tenure‑track Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The position combines independent research, teaching, and leadership of cutting‑edge biomaterials initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and manage an independent research program with a competitive start‑up package.
• Secure extramural, preferably federal, funding and publish in high‑impact journals.
• Teach and mentor undergraduate, medical, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and medical fellows.
• Direct the 3D Prototyping and Biomaterials core, developing tools and biomaterials for researchers and clinicians.
• Serve as Director for Basic Research in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, coordinating proposal development and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain extramural research funding.
• Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals.
• Experience in teaching and mentoring at the university level.
• Ability to collaborate with clinicians and interdisciplinary teams.
