Associate Director of Energy Research Development & Demonstration

About the role

Louisiana State University is seeking a collaborative and strategic leader to serve as the Associate Director of Energy Research Development & Demonstration within the LSU Energy Institute. The role focuses on advancing large‑scale, use‑inspired energy research by supporting multidisciplinary, externally funded projects and coordinating demonstration‑scale activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D) core area, convene quarterly meetings, and manage related activities.
• Coordinate campus‑wide demonstration‑scale energy projects and position LSU as a hub for applied energy learning.
• Support faculty in organizing large multidisciplinary proposals and document historical energy research.
• Identify and pursue major external funding opportunities, scan federal, state, and private calls, and assist faculty teams in proposal development.
• Assist in developing philanthropic funding opportunities in partnership with the LSU Foundation.
• Support the administration of Energy Innovation Fund projects and coordinate project advisory activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading research development initiatives, preferably in energy or related scientific fields.
• Strong collaborative skills with senior university leadership, faculty, and external partners.
• Excellent organizational and project‑management abilities.
• Demonstrated success in securing large, multidisciplinary research funding.
