Associate Benefits Analyst – Employee Health & Benefits

About the role

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is hiring an Associate Benefits Analyst in Troy, Michigan. The analyst obtains and analyzes group benefit program proposals for clients, focusing on group health and welfare coverage. The role supports Senior Benefit Analysts and the department, and involves a significant amount of work in Excel.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze bids for group health and welfare coverage for clients
• Provide benchmarking research and analysis
• Develop detailed client reports
• Provide substantial financial analysis for approximately 3 clients
• Work on a few small to mid-sized fully insured cases with a high level of accuracy
• Provide mid-level support to assigned Senior Benefit Analysts and the department

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics or another related area preferred
• One to three years of office administrative or financial support experience is essential
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure, with tight deadlines and frequent interruptions
• Strict adherence to HIPAA rules regarding health insurance privacy
• Flexibility to arrive early and stay late as needed

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and pleasant telephone and interpersonal skills
• Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects
