Assistant/Associate Extension Agent – Fisheries & Coastal Resources

About the role

This non‑tenure‑track position is an Assistant/Associate Extension Agent within the Marine Extension Project, a joint program of LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program. Based at the St. Tammany Parish Extension Office, the agent will serve St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes, focusing on outreach related to water resources, wetlands, fisheries, and sustainable coastal development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver non‑advocacy educational outreach addressing rapid community and economic growth impacts on regional natural resources.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate multidisciplinary programs for residents, officials, landowners, and marine‑related businesses.
• Collaborate with public and private partners such as parish governments, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, National Marine Fisheries Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
• Address community resilience topics including trade, environmental change, wetland loss, and storm‑surge threats.
• Utilize the MEP network to coordinate resources and assess program effectiveness.

Required profile

• Degree in marine science, fisheries, natural resources, or a related field.
• Experience in extension, outreach, or community education.
• Knowledge of coastal ecosystems and sustainable resource management.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups and manage projects.
