Assistant Warden – Murphysboro Life Skills Re‑Entry Center

About the role

The State of Illinois is seeking an experienced corrections leader to serve as Assistant Warden at the Murphysboro Life Skills Re‑Entry Center (LSRC). The role oversees facility operations, security, and support services to promote public safety and successful re‑entry for individuals in custody.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, establish and implement facility rules, regulations, directives, policies and procedures.
• Plan, organize and direct overall operation functions including security, physical plant, dietary services, discipline of individuals in custody and other logistical support.
• Serve as full‑line supervisor and conduct interviews with individuals in custody and their relatives.
• Act as Safety and Sanitation Coordinator, performing daily inspection tours for security, safety and sanitation.
• Travel to various locations for management meetings, trainings and to present institution programs to lay and professional groups.
• Perform other duties reasonably within the scope of the position as assigned.

Required profile

• Four (4) years of college education, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology or a related field.
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a corrections or related environment.
