Assistant Teacher – Early Childhood

About the role
The Hoya Kids Learning Center at Georgetown University seeks a dedicated Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate care and early education to children of university staff, faculty, and students.
Key responsibilities
- Create and maintain a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment for toddlers.
- Implement classroom activities that follow the emergent curriculum.
- Build supportive relationships with parents to address each child’s individual needs.
- Monitor and support each child’s developmental progress.
- Assist with classroom setup, material preparation, and occasional lifting of children and supplies up to 40 lb.
Required profile
- Possession of a CDA credential, an associate degree, or completion of at least 60 college‑level credit hours.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to engage actively with children through music, movement, and floor‑level activities.
- Comfort with regular exposure to communicable illnesses and bodily fluids.
Required skills
- Basic computer/technology proficiency.
