Assistant Professor of Practice in Media Scoring & Production

About the role

The University of Miami Frost School of Music seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor of Practice to lead its Media Scoring & Production program beginning in the 2026‑27 academic year. The role combines on‑campus and online teaching, curriculum development, and program administration for graduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Run on‑campus and online graduate programs in contemporary/popular music production.
• Teach and administer courses covering music production, recording, songwriting, and media scoring.
• Handle curricular and logistical matters, including courseware development in LMS platforms.
• Participate in auditions, juries, recruiting, service activities, and academic committees.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in music, media scoring, production, or a related field.
• Significant national/international credits as a producer, songwriter, or composer in the popular music industry.
• Proven expertise in contemporary/popular music production, especially Latin American popular music.
• Experience composing and producing music for film, television, video games, VR/AR, and other interactive media.
• Live performance and sound‑engineering experience.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with professional DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live.
• Ability to create music and sound design for interactive platforms.
• Experience building courseware in Canvas or Blackboard.
• Demonstrated success teaching graduate, undergraduate, and non‑traditional students both in‑person and online.
