Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine – Gastroenterology & Motility

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor on the clinical track to provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care, with a focus on motility disorders. The role combines direct patient care, endoscopic services, and oversight of the motility program.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver inpatient and outpatient GI care at UHealth locations and Jackson Memorial Hospital (approximately 7 half‑days per week).
• Oversee the motility program, including reading and reporting motility studies.
• Provide outpatient clinical and endoscopic services and participate in teaching rounds.
• Maintain an outpatient practice across UHealth sites, UHealth Towers, and satellite locations.
• Participate in night, weekend, and holiday call schedules proportionate to other GI faculty.
• Rotate on gastroenterology inpatient and teaching services at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Required profile

• MD degree with ACGME‑accredited internal medicine internship/residency.
• Completed a 3‑year ACGME gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
• Unrestricted Florida medical license (or eligibility prior to credentialing) and DEA registration.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Ability to maintain CME requirements and demonstrate high‑quality clinical care.

Required skills

• Interpretation of esophageal and other motility studies.
• Performance of core and non‑core endoscopic procedures.
• Administration of hydrogen breath tests.
• ACLS and BLS proficiency.
