Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering – Structural Engineering

About the role

Texas A&M International University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering to start in Fall 2027. The position supports research development with a reduced teaching load and involves building an independent, externally funded research program.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead an externally funded research program in structural engineering.
• Develop and contribute to the School’s structural engineering laboratory.
• Teach core courses such as Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete, and Steel Design.
• Mentor student research, senior design projects, and support ABET accreditation efforts.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline by start date.
• Demonstrated expertise in structural engineering research, teaching, or professional practice.
• Experience in experimental testing, sustainable materials, structural health monitoring, or repair of existing structures.
• Progress toward Professional Engineer licensure is highly desirable.
