Utility Coordinator I, II or III

About the role

The Utility Coordinator supports the planning, installation, adjustment, and relocation of utilities within the TP&D Laredo District. Depending on the level (I, II, or III), the role involves increasing independence and interaction with private entities and governmental agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate activities between the department, federal agencies, utility companies, and other stakeholders.
• Interpret and apply department policies related to utility adjustments, relocations, negotiations, and reimbursements.
• Measure, calculate, and document payments such as betterment ratios, eligibility percentages, supplements, market‑value comparisons, and relocation costs.
• Review schematics, utility adjustment plans, cost estimates, maps, surveys, field notes, property descriptions, appraisals, titles, deeds, and related legal instruments.
• Process new utility installation permits and evaluate agreements, specifications, and billings submitted by utility providers.
• Meet with utility representatives to explain policies, negotiate terms, and resolve issues.

Required profile

• Strong analytical abilities for payment calculations and cost analysis.
• Experience reviewing technical documents such as schematics, plans, and legal instruments.
• Ability to work independently while escalating unusual issues to supervisors.
• Effective communication skills for liaison with multiple agencies and private entities.
