Assistant Professor – Medical Oncology (Cancer Prevention & Survivorship)

About the role

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks an Assistant Professor to join its transformative cancer control research program. The position focuses on cancer prevention, lifestyle medicine, and survivorship research.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent, high‑quality research in cancer prevention and survivorship.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Sylvester’s Lifestyle Medicine, Prevention and Digital Health initiative.
• Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities within the department.
• Secure extramural funding and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals.

Required profile

• PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in a behavioral science or related discipline.
• Outstanding record of scholarly publications and extramural funding.
• Demonstrated promise in cancer prevention, survivorship, or related research areas.

Required skills

• Expertise in at least one of the following: exercise/physical activity, nutrition, obesity, symptom measurement, patient‑reported outcomes, digital health interventions, biobehavioral mechanisms, health disparities, cardiometabolic health, translational science, dissemination and implementation.
• Technical proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Experience in bioinformatics analyses.
