Assistant or Associate Professor of Professional Counseling

About the role

Texas A&M University‑Victoria seeks three to four full‑time, tenure‑track faculty members to join the College of Education & Health Professions as Assistant or Associate Professors of Professional Counseling. The appointment begins in January 2027 on the Victoria campus.

Key responsibilities

• Teach master’s‑level courses in CACREP core and concentration areas (clinical mental health counseling and professional school counseling) in both traditional and online formats.
• Provide clinical supervision for practicum and internship experiences, including site visits.
• Advise and mentor graduate students throughout their academic and professional development.
• Participate in student recruitment, admissions, orientation, retention, and program activities.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with schools, mental‑health agencies, healthcare organizations, and community partners.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in Counselor Education or a closely related field, preferably from a CACREP‑accredited program.
• Active involvement in professional counseling organizations and eligibility for Texas licensure or certification.
• Demonstrated experience in university teaching and clinical supervision of counselors‑in‑training.
• Knowledge of CACREP standards, professional counseling practice, and preparation of clinical mental‑health or school counselors.

Required skills

• Understanding of CACREP accreditation standards and processes.
• Ability to supervise counseling practicum and internship students.
• Experience teaching graduate counseling coursework in both face‑to‑face and online environments.
