Assistant General Manager, Distribution Center

About the role

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) of a Home Depot distribution center is responsible for the success of all operational functions in a center of about 500,000+ square feet, supervising a large team of DC Operations Managers in Inbound, Warehouse, Outbound and Office Operations. The AGM works with the General Manager to set strategies and objectives that maximize productivity and control costs, and coordinates with stores, third-party vendors and supply chain functions.

Key responsibilities

• Help evaluate and recommend improvements to work methods, procedures, controls and staffing so product moves accurately and on time, and keep the warehouse layout efficient with seasonality and inventory needs.
• Advise the GM on financial, operational, people and process objectives to drive continuous improvement and lower cost-to-serve; may manage a 3PL provider depending on the center.
• Ensure operational excellence in warehouse areas, safe and efficient use of warehouse management systems and equipment, proper product placement and maintenance of the facility.
• Coach, train and develop the management team, give performance-based feedback and maintain a union-free workplace.
• Enforce safety policies, monitor safety, physical security and operational metrics daily, weekly and monthly.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED; preferred bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business or Supply Chain.
• Preferred: previous change management experience, proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and ability to work weekends, holidays and on call, including relocation.
• Pay range for eligible states: $90,000 - $200,000.
