Assistant General Manager, Distribution Center

About the role

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) of a Home Depot distribution center is responsible for the success of all operational functions in a center of about 500,000+ square feet, supervising a large team of DC Operations Managers covering inbound, warehouse, outbound and office operations. The AGM works with the General Manager to set strategies and objectives that maximize productivity and control costs, and coordinates with stores, third-party vendors and merchandising, supply chain and operations functions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in evaluating and recommending improvements to work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to move and process product accurately and on time
• Recommend financial, operational, people and process objectives to drive continuous improvement and lower cost-to-serve; may manage a 3PL provider depending on the center
• Ensure operational excellence in warehouse areas, including efficient use of warehouse management systems, safe and efficient receiving and storage, and proper layout and maintenance
• Coach, train and develop the management team, provide performance feedback and maintain a union-free workplace
• Enforce safety policies and monitor safety, physical security and operational metrics daily, weekly and monthly

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED; preferred bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business or Supply Chain
• 3 years of work experience preferred
• Flexible schedule, on-call availability, weekend and holiday work, and openness to relocation

Required skills

• Preferred: proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Preferred: previous change management experience

Pay range for eligible states: $90,000 - $200,000.
