Assistant Director, Fitness and Wellness

About the role

The Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of comprehensive fitness and wellness programs for students, faculty, staff and the broader community at Georgetown University. Reporting to Campus Recreation leadership, this position blends program management, instruction and staff supervision to promote a healthy campus environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement group fitness, personal training and health‑coaching initiatives.
• Develop, supervise and assess a comprehensive wellness program aligned with university values.
• Teach 2‑3 group fitness classes each semester and provide one‑on‑one personal training as needed.
• Oversee 30+ part‑time Group Fitness Instructors, 30+ Fitness Attendants and 10+ Personal Trainers/Health Coaches.
• Manage marketing, advertising and weekly payroll for the fitness and wellness departments.
• Organize campus‑wide health and wellness events in partnership with Student Affairs.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and ability to foster an inclusive environment.
• Proven experience in developing and managing fitness or wellness programs.
• Leadership experience supervising student and non‑student staff.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across campus partners.
