Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

About the role

The Assistant Coach supports the men’s and women’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field programs at Texas A&M University‑San Antonio. Working closely with the Head Coach, you will help develop student‑athletes, manage day‑to‑day operations, and uphold the university’s athletic standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting, scheduling meets, and coordinating travel for cross country and track & field teams.
• Manage equipment, budgets, and compliance with NAIA and RRAC regulations.
• Support strength and conditioning programs and oversee practice planning.
• Monitor academic progress of student‑athletes and provide mentorship.
• Help organize fundraising events, camps, and community outreach activities.

Required profile

• Commitment to the educational mission of the university.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, staff, and university stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for competitions and recruiting trips.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NAIA and RRAC compliance rules.
• Experience with budgeting and equipment management.
• Understanding of strength and conditioning principles.
