Armed Security Officer - Reception Clearance

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a part-time Armed Front Desk Security Professional in Houston, Texas, at a government location. The role is a welcoming, highly visible presence supporting access control, visitor screening, credential verification and clear communication with employees and guests. Pay is $18.84 per hour, with day shifts running 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Key responsibilities

• Serve visitors, employees and the public while carrying out security procedures, site policies and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor access at the front desk: greet visitors, verify identification and authorization, issue visitor credentials and keep accurate visitor records.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly, notify the right people and follow reporting procedures.
• Watch front-desk activity, communications and entry points to deter unauthorized access.
• Answer and direct telephone calls, give general information and route visitors to the right offices or departments.

Required profile

• Active DoD Confidential Clearance.
• Armed Guard Card or license; at least 21 years old for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment; licensing may be required before employment.

Required skills

• 3+ years of combined law enforcement, military and/or security experience, or a college degree.
• 3+ years as a military police officer, corrections officer or armed security professional, or a certified law enforcement graduate.
• 1+ year of law enforcement experience or 2+ years as a security supervisor/manager.
• 5+ years of security-related experience.
