Area Operations Manager

About the role

Michelin is hiring an Area Operations Manager for its American Synthetic Rubber Company (ASRC) chemical plant in Louisville, Kentucky. The manager leads a business unit of 30 to 50 people and drives performance in safety, machine availability, quality, delivery and cost. The role follows normal business hours Monday to Friday but supports a team that rotates shifts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong safety leadership by modelling safe work practices and following plant safety guidelines.
• Provide leadership, support and direction to 30-50 wage production operators so they can achieve their common objectives.
• Work with maintenance, quality and other teams to meet daily and annual performance goals and continuous improvement efforts.
• Promote environmental responsibility by fostering a culture of sustainability and supporting biodiversity strategies and compliance.
• Develop employees through coaching plans and performance management, and monitor facility needs to meet succession and career growth.
• Facilitate process and team improvements and coordinate with the forklift driver supplier.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team or project group, setting clear goals, delegating, giving regular feedback and coaching.
• 3-5 years of employee performance management experience (attendance, productivity, skill development, team management) preferred.
• Willingness to work in an industrial plant environment on day shift Monday to Friday and support 24/7 operations as needed.
• Military service as a Junior Military Officer or Senior Non-Commissioned Officer is a plus.

• Microsoft Excel data analysis; Microsoft Power BI is a plus.
