Android Engineer III – Hunt

About the role

onX is seeking an Android Engineer III to build and scale hunting experiences on the Hunt team. You will own the development of a best‑in‑class Android app, collaborate across product and engineering, and help shape the product roadmap in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a high‑quality Android application focused on engaging hunting experiences.
• Partner with engineers and product managers to integrate backend services cleanly.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and write thorough unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure test coverage across the team.
• Design, build, and analyze A/B experiments and explore AI‑driven co‑pilot features.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 4 years of professional software development experience, with 2+ years focused on Android (Kotlin and/or Java).
• Strong ownership mindset, curiosity for new technologies, and a hypothesis‑driven, metrics‑oriented approach.
• Permanent US work authorization and ability to travel occasionally.

Required skills

• Android development using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Experience with asynchronous programming (Flows, Coroutines).
• Familiarity with modern Android libraries such as Jetpack Compose.
• Continuous Integration and testing best practices.
• Knowledge of experimentation and analytics tools (e.g., Split, Eppo).
• Ability to embed AI components into product workflows.
