Analytical Chemist

About the role

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) develops and commercializes sustainable, domestic battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and metal extraction technologies for electric vehicles, grid storage and consumer electronics. As Analytical Chemist, the incumbent runs all laboratory operations and chemical analyses supporting the design and implementation of ABTC's proprietary recycling and extraction processes. The role reports to the Director of Analytical Services and works closely with engineering, plant operations and R&D teams.

Key responsibilities

• Run routine analytical instrumentation according to SOPs, including ICP-OES, ion chromatography, TOC analyzers, titrators, pH sensors, GC-FID/MS and other benchtop instruments
• Analyze, validate and report quality control data, enter results in the Laboratory Information Management System and generate Certificates of Analysis for final products
• Coordinate lab operations: maintain consumable supplies, receive and process incoming samples, and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments
• Train new technical staff on methods and instrumentation and ensure a safe laboratory environment following GLP and PPE requirements
• Keep accurate records and manage laboratory waste in line with hygiene policies

Required profile

• Background in Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 3+ years of laboratory experience operating instrumentation and preparing samples
• Experience with organic (GC, HPLC, TOC) and inorganic (IC, ICP) analytical instrumentation, liquid/solid phase extraction, semi-preparative LC, acid-base titrations and chemical processing backgrounds (oil, gas, chemicals, metals and mining, mineral processing)
• Ability to lift and carry equipment and compressed gas cylinders, stand at benchtops and fume hoods and sit at computer workstations
