Staff Technical Program Manager - Tonopah Flats Lithium Project

About the role

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) develops and commercializes sustainable lithium-ion battery materials through recycling and battery metal extraction technologies. As Staff Technical Program Manager on the Tonopah Flats Lithium Project, you will lead and own all technical aspects of the project, from scoping and budget oversight to driving efforts from laboratory concept through construction and commissioning of commercial-scale facilities. The position reports to the VP of Engineering, Procurement & Construction.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design plan of record and scope definition, translating stakeholder requirements into a clear implementation plan.
• Lead facility scoping, define options and trade-offs, and align working and leadership teams.
• Own permitting, program resourcing, schedule, budgets and reporting tools.
• Act as the bridge between the large cross-functional team and leadership, taking the lead on leadership reviews, funding requests and cross-functional studies.
• Propose and initiate new projects and scopes within the plan of record.
• Influence teams without a direct reporting line and drive results on complex engineering problems.

Required profile

• B.S. in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience and evidence of extraordinary ability.
• 5-10 years of experience in the design, procurement and construction of mining and/or chemical refining projects.
• Proven project management skills, including cost management and scheduling.
• Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills, and ability to thrive under pressure and in ambiguous environments.
• Experience on government grants is a plus.
