Aisles Online Pickup Clerk

About the role

Hy-Vee's Aisles Online program makes grocery shopping as easy and convenient as possible, and the Pickup Clerk is the final step in delivering that promise. You will gather online orders, store them properly and load them into customers' vehicles for a fast, friendly pickup. Night and weekend shifts are required. The position is hourly and reports to the Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers and the Online Shopping Department Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Greet every customer warmly and assist them with their needs throughout the store
• Gather orders, place them in storage at the proper temperature and retrieve them promptly before the customer arrives
• Keep products at the right temperature throughout the fulfillment process
• Cart orders and place them in the holding area for pickup
• Lift, carry and load groceries into customer vehicles
• Select, scan and bag items from all temperature zones as needed
• Tender orders through the POS and process credit card payments
• Substitute products on request or when items are unavailable
• Answer phones and emails promptly and follow Hy-Vee's dress code and hygiene standards
• Pitch in with other tasks and special projects

Required profile

• Commitment to Hy-Vee's mission and a passion for customer service
• Ability to stay organized and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Problem-solving skills, including making product substitutions on the fly
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Required skills

• Clear, professional communication with customers and store personnel
• POS and credit card payment processing
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades where applicable, and to operate a delivery vehicle according to DOT standards where applicable

The work is fast-moving and involves standing, walking, reaching and bending, with exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes and moving equipment. Training is provided on safety, and employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
