Aircraft Upholstery & Sewing Technician

About the role

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is seeking an Aircraft Upholstery/Sewing Technician to fabricate, install, and design upholstery and interior components for aircraft. The position is full‑time on a 12‑month contract with potential for extension or direct hire.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate, cover, and install seat covers, curtains, panels, and custom carpet patterns using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
• Fit and install cabin headliners, sidewalls, hatch panels, windows, and bulkheads, and may fabricate simple metal parts.
• Use the material tracking system (Corridor) to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign‑off work.
• Collaborate with lead technicians to develop process improvements using Lean and Six‑Sigma tools.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; experience ranges from entry level to four years in upholstery, including at least two years in aircraft upholstery.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering documentation, and use measuring tools.
• Must be able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 lb, and work any shift.
• Valid driver’s license and participation in DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial sewing machines and sergers.
• Use of hand tools and power tools for upholstery and carpet trades.
• Computer literacy for material tracking and documentation.
