Aircraft Certification Engineer – Propulsion

About the role

AVTECH Global seeks an experienced Aircraft Certification Engineer specializing in propulsion to lead airworthiness certification for a military commercial derivative aircraft (MCDA). You will act as the technical authority bridging FAA Part 25 requirements with MIL-HDBK-516C standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide SME expertise on engine performance, installation, fuel/oil systems, and airframe integration.
• Develop, review, and execute certification plans for MCDA programs, ensuring compliance with FAA and military standards.
• Interface with military airworthiness authorities and DER/DAR representatives to coordinate approvals.
• Identify and resolve certification gaps between civil and military requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve internal certification processes and tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of propulsion‑related aircraft certification experience, including FAA type certification or STC programs.
• Ability to pass a Tier 1 investigation for DoD contracts; existing security clearance preferred.
• FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) authorization in one or more disciplines.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 and the STC process.
• Familiarity with MIL‑HDBK‑516C military airworthiness standards.
• Experience creating certification documents such as ICAs, ground/flight test plans, compliance checklists, and project‑specific certification plans.
• Program management and effective communication for certification coordination.
