AI Storyteller and Communications Specialist

About the role

The AI Storyteller and Communications Specialist is an embedded communications professional within Georgetown University’s Office of Strategic Communications. Reporting to the Senior Director for Strategic Communication, the role develops and executes narrative strategies that showcase research, teaching, and service activities related to artificial intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Translate complex scientific and technical research into accessible articles, profiles, and media content for a general audience.
• Craft a unified narrative about diverse AI‑related research, teaching, and service activities across the university.
• Manage the university’s digital AI presence, including website updates, social media campaigns, and monthly newsletters.
• Collaborate with the media relations team to pitch research to national journalists and prepare faculty for public and policy briefings.
• Develop communications strategies for major conferences, speaker series, and promotional events.
• Identify and highlight human‑centric stories about AI initiatives in partnership with faculty and students.
• Ensure all communications materials are accurate, stylistically consistent, and aligned with brand guidelines.
• Promote ethical use of generative AI tools within the Office through training and workflow integration.

Required profile

• Experience translating advanced computational, technical, and ethical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
• Strong writing ability for print, digital, and social platforms.
• Proven collaboration with faculty, media, and policy stakeholders.
• Commitment to ethical communication practices in AI.
