Advanced Practice Provider – Pediatric ICU Nights

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Pediatric Institute seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) certified in Pediatric Acute Care to join the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on night shifts. The APRN will deliver comprehensive, evidence‑based care to critically ill children.

Key responsibilities

• Perform thorough histories, physical exams, and develop differential diagnoses for acute and chronic pediatric conditions.
• Order, interpret, and act on laboratory, radiology, and specialized diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe and monitor medications in accordance with state licensure and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure high‑quality patient care.
• Assist with discharge planning, length‑of‑stay management, and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as a clinical preceptor for students and support professional development of the care team.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited APRN program (MSN required within 3 years of hire) or an A.R.C.‑approved Physician Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (RN license also required) or Physician Assistant.
• National certification as an NP (or PA) and Pediatric Acute Care certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Required skills

• Management of mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support.
• Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
• Ability to interpret complex lab and imaging results for critically ill pediatric patients.
