Advanced Practice Provider – Neurosurgery OR (PRN)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNS) to join the Neurosurgery Operating Room team at Akron General Medical Center on a PRN (as‑needed) basis. The role supports cranial and spine surgeries for adult patients, providing first‑assist expertise in a high‑acuity environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in neurosurgical cranial and spinal procedures, performing first‑assist duties in the OR.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the surgical team.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within scope of licensure and institutional policies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and quality‑monitoring activities.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in the applicable state.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA program with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) as required.
• National certification in the respective advanced practice role.
• Credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee of the hospital.

Required skills

• First‑assist experience in an operating‑room setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) as required by the service line.
