Advanced Practice Provider – Cardiovascular Surgery

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNS) to join the Cardiovascular Surgery team at Akron General Medical Center. This full‑time, inpatient‑only position focuses on high‑acuity cardiovascular surgical care in a fast‑paced ICU environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ICU rounding, post‑operative management, and inpatient consults for critically ill cardiovascular patients.
• Assist in the operating room as first assistant for cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular procedures, including vein harvesting and removal of pacer wires.
• Insert central and arterial lines and manage complex infections, trauma, and cardiovascular disease.
• Participate in urgent, life‑threatening situations and provide after‑hours call coverage as scheduled.

Required profile

• Current state licensure as an NP, PA, or Clinical Nurse Specialist with national certification.
• ICU experience, preferably in cardiovascular surgery, general surgery, or cardiology.
• Acute Care certification for Nurse Practitioners; OR experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Neonatal Resuscitation may be required based on setting.

Required skills
