Advanced Practice Provider – Acute Care NP/PA/CNS in Critical Care

About the role

The Integrated Hospital Care Institute at Cleveland Clinic is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Critical Care Advanced Practice Team at Mercy Hospital. The role provides high‑level autonomous care in a mixed MICU/SICU environment, including Level II trauma and CCU patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent critical‑care management, including history‑and‑physical exams, daily rounding, and admission orders.
• Perform invasive procedures such as central line placement, arterial line insertion, and intubations.
• Coordinate care plans, engage in patient and family discussions, and collaborate with attending physicians and consulting teams.
• Respond to hospital‑wide emergencies (rapid response, sepsis, stroke alerts, code blues) and participate in 24/7 coverage with eICU support.

Required profile

• Current licensure as an NP, PA, or CNS in the applicable state(s) with national certification.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA program; MSN required within 3 years of hire for APRNs.
• Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and commitment to compassionate, collaborative patient care.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) as required by the service line.
• Proficiency in performing central line, arterial line, and intubation procedures.
