Advance Practice Provider – Trauma Service (Nights) II

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital is seeking a nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNS) to join its Trauma Service on the night shift. The APP will evaluate and manage admitted trauma patients across regular floors, ICU, and the emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive histories, physical exams, and order appropriate diagnostics for trauma patients.
• Manage patient care on regular floors, ICU, and participate in trauma activations in the ED.
• Execute procedures such as simple and advanced suturing and chest tube insertion per hospital privileging policies.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and institutional guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in rounds, and ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (or RN) in the applicable state.
• MSN from an accredited APRN program (or equivalent for PA/CNS).
• Basic Life Support certification; ATLS certification required within one year of hire.
• Experience in ICU, surgery, or trauma preferred; new graduates with relevant experience considered.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced suturing techniques.
• Chest tube insertion.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS/PALS/NRP as applicable.
• Electronic medical record (EMR) utilization.
