Advance Practice Provider (NP/PA) – General Surgery PRN II

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System seeks a nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver medical management for surgical patients in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Hillcrest Hospital. This PRN position supports both adult and pediatric patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, order and interpret labs, radiology, and other diagnostic tests.
• Manage post‑anesthesia complications, determine discharge readiness, and coordinate higher‑level care when needed.
• Perform routine procedures such as injections, suturing, wound care, bone‑marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and CCF prescriptive authority.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, educate patients, and serve as a liaison for continuity of care.

Required profile

• Certified Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care and Family) or Physician Assistant with PACU, ED, ICU or similar acute‑care experience.
• Current state licensure as RN and NP or PA, national certification, BLS required, ACLS/PALS/NRP as applicable.
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and ability to provide coverage across multiple hospital locations.

Required skills

• Advanced cardiac and pediatric life support (ACLS, PALS, NRP).
• Procedural skills: bone‑marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV insertion, spinal tap, thoracentesis, paracentesis, suturing, wound care.
• Interpretation of laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic data.
• Prescriptive authority and medication management.
