Advance Practice Provider – Inpatient General Surgery II

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNS) to join the General Surgery team at Mercy Hospital. The role involves delivering pre‑operative assessments, managing post‑operative care on the floor, and assisting in the operating room.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑operative history and physical examinations, order and interpret labs and imaging.
• Provide post‑operative care including progress notes, drain removal, wound management, and discharge planning.
• Assist as first or second surgeon in the operating room on a rotating schedule.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff during daily rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.

Required profile

• APRN: MSN required within 3 years of hire; graduate of an accredited APRN program.
• PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.‑approved program with a master’s degree.
• CNS: Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Clinical Nurse Specialist certification.
• Current state licensure as RN/NP/PA/CNS and DEA registration where applicable.
• National certification (NP, PA, or CNS) and credentialing by the Medical Executive Committee.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) as required by the work setting.
• Ability to prescribe and monitor medications within state and institutional policies.
