Adult Protective Services Case Manager 2

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking an Adult Protective Services (APS) Case Manager 2 to serve the Dalton area and surrounding counties. In this public‑service position you will protect vulnerable adults by investigating reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation and coordinating appropriate interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial investigations of APS reports and determine the need for intervention promptly.
• Assess client risk levels and take actions to ensure safety.
• Provide follow‑up, consultations and resource referrals to stabilize situations and prevent recurrence.
• Initiate guardianship proceedings as a last resort for incapacitated adults.
• Maintain accurate documentation and submit reports within required timeframes.
• Stay current on policies, laws, trends and best practices through training and meetings.
• Perform additional professional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Ability to conduct thorough investigations and evaluate risk.
• Knowledge of adult protective services criteria, relevant state laws and guardianship processes.
• Strong written communication skills for documentation and reporting.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
