Housekeeper

About the role

The Georgia Department of Education is seeking a reliable Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment at the Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon, Georgia.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, dormitories, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Restock restroom supplies and maintain inventory of custodial supplies.
• Clean windows, doors, furniture, fixtures, and other assigned areas.
• Report maintenance, repair, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and campus events as needed.
• Lift and move supplies, equipment, and materials weighing up to 30 pounds or more.

Required profile

• One (1) year of experience as a lead worker in a related area or equivalent Housekeeper level.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and strong work ethic.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment for students, staff, and visitors.
