Adult Education Intern – Fall 2026 (Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Richmond is seeking an Adult Education Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This unpaid position supports the Adult Education Specialist in delivering English language training to refugees and immigrants, helping them gain the communication skills needed for successful integration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with enrollment, coordination, and implementation of adult education classes.
• Contact students to confirm attendance and address scheduling conflicts.
• Help remove barriers to education, such as transportation and childcare challenges.
• Differentiate and scaffold instruction for individuals or small groups.
• Communicate with local stakeholders and adult education providers to connect learners with appropriate courses.
• Support teachers in preparing student materials.
• Coordinate volunteer coverage for classes.

• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Interest in adult education, language instruction, and community outreach.
